Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Ashley, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in New Jersey who is passionate about helping teens and adults move through life's challenges with greater confidence, self-understanding, and resilience. I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Monmouth University and provide outpatient psychotherapy for individuals facing a wide range of emotional and behavioral concerns.

Before entering outpatient practice, I spent five years as a Children's Crisis Intervention provider, supporting children, adolescents, and families through acute mental health crises. That experience strengthened my ability to remain calm during difficult moments while deepening my understanding of trauma, anxiety, emotional regulation, and the remarkable resilience people are capable of.

I believe meaningful change begins when people feel understood, reconnect with their strengths, and begin creating lives that feel authentic and aligned with their values. I specialize in helping teens and adults experiencing anxiety, ADHD, trauma, depression, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, relationship challenges, and difficulties with emotional regulation.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should feel like a genuine conversation, not an interrogation. My style is warm, collaborative, and authentic, balancing compassion with curiosity and gentle accountability. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe enough to be honest, explore difficult emotions, and show up exactly as they are.

My approach is trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming, recognizing that every person's experiences, nervous system, and path toward healing are unique. While reducing distress is an important part of therapy, I also help clients understand the patterns that developed over time, reconnect with their strengths, and build practical tools for navigating life's challenges with greater confidence and flexibility.

The philosophy behind Ride Your Wave Psychotherapy is simple: life will always bring waves. Healing isn't about avoiding life's waves—it's about learning to ride them with greater confidence, clarity, and self-trust. Therapy is an opportunity to slow down, find your footing, deepen your understanding of yourself, and build the resilience to move through life's uncertainties with greater self-compassion.

What you can expect from me

Starting the counseling process can feel intimidating, and my goal is to make the first session feel welcoming, comfortable, and collaborative. We'll spend time getting to know one another, discussing what has brought you to therapy, exploring what's been weighing on you, and identifying what you hope will be different in your life.

There is no expectation that you'll tell your entire story during our first meeting. We'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you while beginning to identify your strengths, your challenges, and the goals that matter most. I approach each session with curiosity rather than assumptions, meeting you where you are without judgment.

My hope is that you'll leave feeling heard, understood, and reassured that you don't have to navigate life's waves alone. Together, we'll begin building a path toward greater clarity, resilience, and a life that feels more connected to who you truly are.
