Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Ashley Hallman, a Licensed Professional Counselor with nearly a decade of experience helping adults navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, and the lasting impact of childhood experiences. I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling and Human Development from Lindsey Wilson College and have worked in crisis services, substance use treatment, community mental health, and outpatient therapy.

I have a special passion for working with individuals healing from complex trauma, attachment wounds, and religious or spiritual trauma. I also work with first responders and law enforcement professionals experiencing the cumulative stress of the job, critical incident trauma, burnout, relationship strain, or difficulty shifting between their professional and personal roles. As the spouse of a former first responder, I understand how this work can affect not only the individual, but also their relationships and family life.

I enjoy supporting people who feel stuck in recurring patterns, are questioning who they are, or are searching for greater meaning and purpose in their lives. I believe therapy is about more than managing symptoms. It is about understanding your story, making sense of the experiences that shaped you, and creating lasting change.

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to your individual needs. I integrate psychodynamic therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), attachment-focused work, mindfulness, and somatic approaches.

My goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to be fully yourself. Whether you are working through past trauma, carrying the weight of a demanding career, navigating a difficult season, or simply wanting to know yourself more deeply, I would be honored to walk alongside you in that process.

My approach to therapy

I view therapy as a collaborative relationship built on trust, authenticity, and genuine human connection. I do not believe healing happens because someone gives you all the answers. It happens when you have the space to slow down, feel understood, make sense of what you have experienced, and begin relating to yourself in new ways.

In our work together, every part of you is welcome, including the parts that feel overwhelmed, guarded, ashamed, angry, or stuck. I am naturally curious and ask thoughtful questions to help uncover patterns, build self-awareness, and deepen insight. At the same time, I believe therapy should be practical. We will explore what is happening beneath the surface while also developing tools that support meaningful change in your daily life.

My approach is grounded in trauma-informed, attachment-focused care and is especially well suited for individuals navigating complex trauma, difficult relationships, childhood wounds, religious or spiritual trauma, and major life transitions. I also understand that first responders and law enforcement professionals may be accustomed to staying composed, compartmentalizing difficult experiences, and placing the needs of others before their own. I offer a direct, respectful approach that recognizes the culture and demands of the work without reducing you to your profession.

I integrate evidence-based approaches with a flexible, person-centered style because healing looks different for everyone. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to be honest, challenged enough to grow, and supported enough to discover that healing does not require becoming someone different. It begins with understanding and accepting who you already are.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know one another and begin building trust. Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially if you are used to staying composed, handling things on your own, or being the person others rely on. You will not be expected to share everything at once, and we will move at a pace that feels manageable for you.

We will talk about what brought you to therapy, what has been weighing on you, and what you would like to see change. I will also ask about your history, relationships, work, and other experiences that may help me understand the full picture of your life, not just the symptoms you are experiencing.

Together, we will begin identifying your goals and what meaningful progress might look like for you. That may include processing trauma, managing stress or anxiety, improving your relationships, navigating a transition, or better understanding patterns that keep showing up in your life. We will create a plan that reflects your needs and feels realistic for where you are right now.

Above all, you can expect a genuine, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you can show up as you are. My hope is that you leave the first session feeling understood and with a clearer sense of how we can move forward together.
