Great to meet you!

I believe one of the most important parts of therapy is finding a therapist you feel comfortable being yourself with. I want you to feel heard, understood, and supported without feeling judged. You don’t have to know exactly what to say or have everything figured out before coming to therapy.

I really enjoy working with young adults who are trying to figure out who they are, what they want, and what they need. I often work with people who overthink, have difficulty setting boundaries, or are much harder on themselves than they are on everyone else. I also work with people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and past experiences that are still affecting them today.

My style is warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative. I value honesty and trust, and I definitely believe there is room for humor in therapy when it feels appropriate. I’ll support and validate you, but I’m also not afraid to challenge you or point out patterns I’m noticing.

Sometimes you may need me to be more direct, and other times you may need the space to work through something and come to your own conclusion. I’m comfortable doing both.

I don’t believe therapy should look the same for everyone. If something we’re doing isn’t helping, I want you to feel comfortable telling me. We can talk about it, make adjustments, and figure out what works best for you.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, person-centered, and collaborative. I believe you know yourself and your experiences better than anyone else. My job is to help you understand yourself better, recognize patterns, build new skills, and work toward the changes you want to make.

I don’t use the same approach with everyone. I use techniques from CBT, DBT, strengths-based and solution-focused therapy, as well as practical coping and emotional regulation skills. Sometimes it makes sense for our sessions to be more structured, while other times you may need the space to talk something through and figure out what you’re feeling or what you want to do next.

I also use EMDR and really value how versatile it can be. Most people associate EMDR with trauma and PTSD, but it can also be helpful with anxiety, depression, negative beliefs about yourself, and experiences from your past that are still affecting you today. I like having another way to help people work through things when talking about them alone doesn’t feel like enough.

I want therapy to feel like something we’re doing together. I’ll explain what we’re doing and why, and I want you to feel comfortable telling me if something isn’t working for you. We can change our approach as we go and find what works best for you.

What you can expect from me

You can expect our sessions to be conversational and comfortable. When we first start working together, I’ll spend time getting to know you and understanding what brought you to therapy. I want to know you as a person, not just what you’re struggling with.

Sessions can look different from week to week. We may spend time working through something from your past, talking about something going on right now, working on boundaries, challenging anxious thoughts, or noticing patterns that keep coming up. We may also work on coping skills and things you can actually use outside of therapy.

And you don’t have to show up every week knowing exactly what you want to talk about. If you have no idea where to start that day, that’s okay. We’ll figure it out. As I get to know you, I’ll also get a better sense of when you need me to listen and validate what you’re feeling and when you need me to challenge you a little.

I want you to feel like you got something out of your session. Maybe you leave feeling relieved, understand yourself a little better, see something differently, or have an idea of what you want to work on between sessions. Not every session is going to be easy, especially when we’re working through difficult things. But I want you to feel like the time you spent in therapy was helpful and worth your time.
