Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Ashley O’Neal, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who provides a supportive, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space for individuals navigating life’s challenges. My professional experience includes working with adolescents and adults, families and parents, and individuals who have experienced trauma or are involved with the court or legal system.

I use evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical skills for coping and creating meaningful change. My goal is to meet each client where they are and work collaboratively to help them feel heard, supported, and empowered in their journey toward improved well-being.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and nonjudgmental. I believe therapy is most effective when clients feel heard, respected, and comfortable being their authentic selves. I work with clients to better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical tools to manage challenges and create meaningful change.

I am comfortable working with clients who may be experiencing intense emotions, anger, frustration, or difficulty trusting others. I understand that strong emotions are often connected to deeper pain, stress, trauma, or difficult life experiences, and I do not take a client’s emotions personally. I strive to provide a safe and supportive space where clients can express difficult feelings honestly and work through them in a healthy and constructive way. My goal is to help clients feel heard and supported while learning skills to manage intense emotions and navigate challenging situations without allowing those emotions to negatively impact themselves or others.

I utilize evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and tailor treatment to each client’s individual needs and goals. My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, emotional regulation, life transitions, relationship and family concerns, parenting challenges, and individuals navigating court or legal-system involvement. I strive to create a safe space where clients can explore their experiences, build on their strengths, and work toward a greater sense of balance and well-being.

What you can expect from me

My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable being honest about their experiences, emotions, and challenges. I want clients to feel heard, respected, and accepted while also being encouraged to grow and make meaningful changes in their lives.

Together, we will identify goals that are meaningful to you and develop practical strategies to help you manage emotions, cope with stress, improve relationships, navigate difficult situations, and build greater confidence in yourself. Depending on your individual needs, therapy may focus on developing healthier coping skills, improving emotional regulation, processing difficult experiences, increasing self-awareness, strengthening communication, or creating positive changes in your daily life.

My hope is that clients leave therapy feeling better equipped to understand themselves, manage challenges, make decisions, and move forward with greater confidence and a stronger sense of control over their lives. I believe progress looks different for everyone, and I will work collaboratively with you to help you define what meaningful progress looks like for you.
