Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Ashley Shippey, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia with over twenty years of experience walking alongside clients through life's ups and downs. Throughout my career, I've partnered with adults navigating depression, anxiety, relationship and family challenges, grief, divorce, parenting, stress, women's issues, and major life and career transitions. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Human and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University and my Master of Science in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University. My style is warm, caring, and genuinely empathetic. I don't take it lightly when someone trusts me with their story, and my priority is to meet you exactly where you are on your journey and support you as you become your best self.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, collaborative, and centered on building a caring, empathetic relationship where you feel truly supported. I draw from person-centered, cognitive behavioral (CBT), solution-focused, and mindfulness-based approaches, and I tailor each session to fit your unique needs, goals, and pace rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. I work with adults facing depression, anxiety, relationship and family concerns, grief, divorce, parenting stress, life and career transitions, and women's issues. My hope is that our work together helps you strengthen your coping skills, gain clarity and confidence, and move toward the goals, desires, and outcomes that matter most to you. I use my knowledge and training to nurture your growth and join you in becoming your best self.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know one another and begin building a warm, trusting relationship. We'll talk about what brings you in, review your history, explore your goals, and start creating a plan for our work together, including a schedule that fits your life, whether that's weekly or bi-weekly, in person or online. There's no pressure to have everything figured out. I'll check in regularly to make sure you feel good about your progress, and I'm always open to feedback so we can adjust along the way.

In our first sessions, we'll explore questions like: What would healing or progress look like for you? What is bothering you the most? What changes would you hope to see in your life? These conversations help guide our work together and ensure therapy is focused on what matters most to you.
