I am Atma Garcia, PsyD, a licensed psychologist with specialized training in transpersonal and existential-humanistic approaches. I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Georgia Southern University and have extensive experience supporting adults through challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, identity concerns/crisis, and major life transitions.
My approach is client-centered and evidence-based, focusing on building resilience, insight, and healthy coping strategies. I provide a compassionate and collaborative environment for exploring both immediate concerns and long-term growth.
While my clinical credentials and state licensure are registered under his birth name, Joseph A. Garcia, Psy.D., those who work with me are invited to address me by my spiritual name, Atma.
I utilize Existential and Transpersonal frameworks to address the whole person. My approach focuses on the fundamental questions of meaning, freedom, and agency (Existential) while acknowledging the deeper, spiritual dimensions of the human experience that often transcend the individual ego (Transpersonal). Together, we move beyond symptom reduction toward a more profound integration of self.
Clients can expect to gain greater self-awareness, practical coping strategies, and a clearer understanding of the patterns that shape their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. My goal is to help you feel supported, understood, and equipped with tools you can use beyond our sessions—whether to navigate current challenges, build resilience, or foster long-term personal growth.
