Great to meet you!

In the harried pace of modern life, it is a rare thing to set aside time for reflection but it can be so important and life changing if you do. As a therapist, I enjoy collaborating with each individual to aid them in gaining a deeper understanding of themsleves and in making changes for a better, more fulfilling life. Throughout my 10+ years as therapist, I have had the opportunity to work with people of many ages, cultures, backgrounds and personal challenges. Much of my clinical work has been treating trauma and related issues including PTSD, depression, grief and loss, anxiety, stress, instability and family/relational challenges. Additionally, I have assisted those who are adjusting to life changes (moving, new parents, career switch), exploring questions/doubts/history related to spiritual/faith practices and working through aging/end of life.

My approach to therapy

My stance is that each person is the expert on their own life and my job is to provide a warm, nonjudgemental space where new understanding can be gained and change can happen. I have found that it is benefical to explore personal history, family/relationship dynamics and significant life experiences in order to consider how these things may be impacting your present day. The following are practices and perspectives which I often draw from and integrate into treatment when beneficial: DBT, iCBT, IPT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, Art Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Attachment Theory, Psychodynamic methods

What you can expect from me

In the first session I will begin to get to know you. Throughout the session I will use guided questions and check-in with your comfort and preferences. We will talk about your current circumstances and your personal history. We will also work together to identify your goals for therapy and what style/structure of therapy will work best for you.
