Great to meet you!

My name is Augustine Alpha, and I am a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Arizona. My doctoral-level training has equipped me to provide sophisticated, evidence-informed care across a wide range of psychiatric and mental health conditions — and I bring that depth to every adult I work with.

My primary clinical focus includes PTSD, bipolar disorder, anxiety, OCD, and depression. My practice extends considerably further: I also work with clients navigating trauma, substance use and addiction, panic disorders, eating disorders, borderline personality, ADD/ADHD, anger management, grief and loss, sleep difficulties, chronic and physical health conditions, diabetes, maternal mental health, infertility, domestic violence, family and relationship concerns, men's issues, stress, and identity.

I offer dedicated, affirming support for individuals navigating gender dysphoria — providing knowledgeable, respectful care for a dimension of experience that deserves more than generic mental health treatment. I also offer neuropsychological testing for clients who need a deeper clinical understanding of how their brain is functioning.

Whatever complexity you bring, I have the training and the commitment to meet it.

My approach to therapy

My approach is integrative, trauma-informed, and grounded in the full complexity of each person's life — not just their presenting diagnosis.

Trauma Focused CBT anchors my work with clients carrying PTSD and trauma, including those who have experienced domestic violence or other forms of interpersonal harm. This specialized, evidence-based approach addresses trauma's specific impact on thought, emotion, and behavior — providing a structured, safe pathway toward healing.

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) broadly for depression, anxiety, OCD, and mood disorders — helping clients identify and shift the patterns keeping them stuck. Motivational Interviewing meets clients in ambivalence, particularly those working through substance use, behavioral change, or uncertainty about treatment. Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) keeps work anchored in possibility and progress, and Behavior Management Therapy builds the practical behavioral skills that create lasting change.

As a doctoral-prepared provider, I also attend closely to the intersection of physical and mental health — particularly for clients managing chronic conditions like diabetes, navigating the emotional complexity of infertility or maternal mental health, or living with physical health challenges that affect their psychological wellbeing.

For clients navigating gender dysphoria or identity questions, I bring affirmation, clinical knowledge, and deep respect — no education required on your part.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I want to understand you — the full picture, not just the headline concern.

We'll talk about what's brought you in, your history, and how things have been affecting your daily life. I'll pay attention to the whole person: psychiatric symptoms, physical health, identity, relationships, and anything else that's relevant to your experience. For clients coming in around domestic violence, trauma, or other sensitive concerns, I approach those conversations with care, patience, and an unwavering commitment to your safety and dignity.

By the end of our first session, we'll have a beginning plan — which approaches fit best, whether medication is appropriate, and what next steps look like. Every decision is made transparently and collaboratively. Nothing moves forward without your understanding and agreement.

Whatever you've been carrying — however complex or long-standing — you deserve care that can actually meet it. That's what I'm here to provide.
