About Me

What should your client know about you?

Austin Chandler is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with advanced graduate training in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and medication management across the lifespan from Azusa Pacific University. His education emphasized evidence-based psychiatric treatment, psychopharmacology, and therapeutic communication, providing a strong foundation for safe and effective mental health care.

His clinical training included over a decade of experience treating individuals with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD, trauma-related conditions, and complex psychiatric presentations in both outpatient and inpatient care settings. Through this work, he developed a strong focus on careful diagnostic evaluation, medication optimization, and helping patients understand how biological, psychological, and environmental factors influence their mental health.

What is your approach to providing care?

Austin specializes in treating conditions such as ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, mood disorders, and stress-related challenges. He works collaboratively with patients to develop treatment plans that are practical, safe, and tailored to their individual goals, whether that means optimizing medication, improving focus and productivity, or reducing emotional distress.

What can clients expect from their first session with you?

In our first appointment, we’ll work together to build a clear understanding of what’s been going on and what you’d like to improve. I’ll ask questions about your symptoms, past treatment experiences, medical history, and any factors in your life that may be affecting your mental health, but just as importantly, I want to hear your perspective and what matters most to you.

Together, we’ll review possible diagnoses, discuss whether medication might be helpful, and explore treatment options in a way that feels thoughtful and collaborative. If medication is part of the plan, I’ll explain the reasoning behind recommendations, expected benefits, and possible side effects so you can make informed decisions about your care.

The first visit is also a chance for you to ask questions, share preferences, and help shape a treatment plan that fits your goals. Some patients leave with medication recommendations, while others begin with education, monitoring, or behavioral strategies depending on what makes the most sense for them.

My goal is for you to leave our first session feeling heard, informed, and confident about the direction we’re taking together.
