Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Baljinder Hahn, M.A., LPC, a Licensed Professional Counselor with over eight years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families. I earned my B.S. in Psychology and M.A. in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. My background includes private practice since 2018 and my recent work as an Employee Assistance Counselor with Aurora Health Care.

I support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, grief, relationship and family concerns, workplace challenges, parenting pressures, chronic illness, and life transitions. I especially enjoy working with women and women’s issues, couples, and adults who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or ready to make meaningful changes in their lives.

My counseling style is warm, compassionate, nonjudgmental, and person-centered. I believe therapy should be a safe place where you feel genuinely heard and understood. I meet you where you are while helping you recognize the strengths you already possess.

I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help identify unhealthy thought and behavior patterns, develop healthier perspectives, improve emotional regulation, strengthen communication, and build practical coping skills. With couples, I focus on improving communication, resolving conflict, understanding recurring patterns, and rebuilding connection.

For clients who desire it, I also offer Christian counseling, respectfully integrating faith with evidence-based therapy.

My goal is to provide a supportive relationship while also helping you create real change. Together, we will identify what is getting in your way, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools to help you move toward a healthier, more balanced, and fulfilling life.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, supportive, collaborative, and person-centered. I believe that one of the most important parts of counseling is creating a safe, nonjudgmental environment where you can be yourself and feel genuinely heard and understood. I meet you where you are while helping you move toward the changes you want to make.

I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you recognize how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we identify patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, or feeling stuck. I help you challenge unhelpful ways of thinking, develop healthier perspectives, and learn practical strategies you can use in everyday life.

I also believe therapy should be individualized. Some clients need a space to process and feel supported, while others are ready for more direct problem-solving and change. I adjust my approach based on your needs, personality, experiences, and goals. As our relationship develops, I may gently challenge patterns that are preventing you from moving forward while continuing to provide encouragement and support.

When working with couples, I focus on identifying unhealthy communication patterns, improving conflict resolution, strengthening emotional connection, and helping each partner better understand the other's perspective.

For clients who desire it, I can also integrate Christian faith and values into evidence-based counseling.

Ultimately, my goal is to help you better understand yourself, recognize your strengths, develop healthier coping and communication skills, and feel more confident handling life's challenges. Therapy is a partnership, and we will work together to create meaningful, lasting change.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin creating a comfortable, trusting relationship. I understand that starting therapy can feel unfamiliar or even a little uncomfortable, so there is no expectation that you come prepared with exactly what to say or have everything figured out.

We will talk about what brought you to counseling, what has been happening in your life, and what you hope will be different as a result of therapy. I will ask questions about your current concerns, relationships, important life experiences, strengths, support system, and any challenges that may be affecting your emotional well-being and daily life.

Just as importantly, I want to hear what matters to you. We will discuss your goals and begin identifying areas you would like to work on together. I believe therapy should be collaborative, so you will have an active role in deciding what we focus on and what you would like to accomplish.

My approach during the first session is warm, conversational, and nonjudgmental. You can share at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions about me, my counseling approach, or the therapy process.

By the end of our first session, my hope is that you feel heard, understood, and more comfortable with the counseling process. We will begin developing a plan that fits your individual needs and goals and identify practical next steps for moving forward.

You do not need to have all the answers before you begin. We will start where you are and work together from there.
