Great to meet you!

Hello there! My name is Baochau (I go by Bao). I am a Vietnamese American therapist who is based in Southern California. I primarily work with children, adolescents, and adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, self-esteem, anger management, and relational issues.

I like to use various therapeutic approaches to tailor to each client’s individual needs, but some of the approaches I like to use in my practice stem from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Client-Centered Therapy.

In addition to working with clients from different ages and mental health backgrounds, I also provide therapy for clients from diverse populations, especially those who are from underserved communities. As a therapist who is also a woman of color, I strive to provide culturally sensitive and affirming care for my clients.

My approach to therapy

During the process of therapy, I like to use a warm and affirming approach to encourage and challenge you to live the kind of life that brings you contentment and satisfaction. To do that, I take an approach that is very attuned to you so that I can convey to you that your experiences are seen and heard by me.

Once your experiences are seen and heard by me, I'd like to serve as a guide that will help you to gain insights into unhelpful patterns of thoughts, beliefs, feelings, and behaviors that you may have developed to protect yourself during times of traumas and hardships. Together, we can help you to learn new ways to cultivate a life that you deserve.

What you can expect from me

In my first session with you, I strive to be a curious yet empathetic explorer as I try to gain a better understanding of why you are seeking support and how I can provide that support for you. We will be going at your pace, and your comfort and safety will be my priority in the first session. My goal in the first session is for you to feel seen, heard, and understood by me so that we can begin to develop our therapeutic relationship together.
