Great to meet you!

About Me

I’m Barbara Nelson, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming space where you can feel heard and understood. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and my goal is to meet you where you are while helping you navigate challenges, build confidence, and work toward meaningful change.

I work with children, adolescents, and adults and understand that each person’s experiences, needs, and goals are unique. My approach is personalized to you, with an emphasis on building a trusting therapeutic relationship and providing practical support along the way.

Whether you’re dealing with stress, life transitions, emotional challenges, relationship concerns, or simply feel ready to better understand yourself, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I’m here to listen without judgment, help you identify what matters most to you, and support you in taking the next steps.

Reaching out for therapy can be a big step, and I strive to make that process as comfortable and approachable as possible. I look forward to learning more about you and working together toward greater well-being.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and individualized. I believe every person brings their own unique experiences, strengths, and challenges to therapy, so I take the time to understand you as a whole person rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

I focus on creating a safe and nonjudgmental environment where you can feel comfortable being open and honest. Together, we’ll identify the concerns that are most important to you, explore patterns that may be affecting your well-being, and develop practical strategies to help you move forward.

Whether you’re navigating stress, life changes, emotional challenges, relationships, or personal growth, my goal is to support you at your own pace while helping you build greater confidence, insight, and resilience.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, my goal is to help you feel comfortable, heard, and supported. We’ll spend time getting to know one another, discussing what brought you to therapy, and talking about the concerns or goals you would like to work on.

I’ll ask questions about your experiences, strengths, and current challenges so I can better understand your unique needs. We’ll also begin identifying areas where therapy may be helpful and discuss what you hope to gain from our work together.

There is no pressure to have everything figured out before you begin. Therapy is a process, and our first session is an opportunity to start building a trusting relationship and create a plan that feels right for you. My goal is for you to leave feeling listened to, understood, and hopeful about the work ahead.
