Great to meet you!

Have you ever looked around at your life and thought, "Why am I still reacting this way when I know better?"

The truth is, many of our emotional responses were learned long ago. What helped you survive difficult experiences, chaotic environments, loss, trauma, or uncertainty may have been necessary at the time—but those same patterns can start getting in the way of the life you want today.

I'm Barbie, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly two decades of experience helping people work through anxiety, trauma, PTSD, panic, depression, grief, relationship struggles, and major life stressors. I work with clients who are tired of simply surviving and are ready to understand themselves on a deeper level so they can move forward with more confidence, peace, and self-trust. I specialize in helping clients process experiences that continue to affect them long after the event itself has passed.

My style is warm, authentic, and refreshingly human. I often describe myself as a "tie-dyed kind of therapist" because while I take your healing seriously, I don't believe therapy has to feel stiff, clinical, or intimidating. Therapy should feel like a place where you can finally exhale.

My approach to therapy

I believe that before we can change a pattern, we have to understand it.

That's why I spend time getting to know the whole person—not just the symptoms that brought them to therapy. Together, we'll explore your experiences, relationships, strengths, and the ways you've learned to cope with life's challenges. From there, we'll identify what is helping you move forward and what may be keeping you stuck.

I draw from trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, behavioral approaches, and strengths-based therapy, but I don't believe in forcing clients into a specific treatment model. Every person brings a different story into the room, and therapy should reflect that.

Many of my clients come to therapy feeling exhausted by anxiety, weighed down by unresolved trauma, or frustrated by patterns they can't seem to break. My goal is to help you understand where those patterns come from while building practical tools that help you feel more grounded, capable, and in control of your life.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is simply a conversation. You don't need to have the right words or know exactly where to start.

We'll talk about what's been weighing on you, what you've been carrying, and what you hope might be different. I'll ask questions, but just as importantly, I'll listen. Building trust is one of the most important parts of therapy, and I believe that happens when people feel accepted exactly as they are.

Over time, many clients begin to notice that situations that once felt overwhelming become easier to navigate. They feel less controlled by anxiety, less defined by past experiences, and more connected to their own strengths. Therapy isn't about becoming someone new—it's about reconnecting with the parts of yourself that may have gotten buried beneath stress, pain, or survival mode.

If you've spent years taking care of everyone else, pushing through difficult experiences, or carrying burdens that feel heavier than they should, you don't have to keep doing it alone. Healing doesn't require perfection—it starts with having a space where you can finally put some of that weight down.

I'd be honored to be part of that journey.
