Great to meet you!

Hello my name is Belinda Valdivia and I am a bilingual therapist licensed in California and have been working in different settings with diverse populations. I obtained my graduate degree at USC in 2013 and have been providing for the last twelve years individual therapy to children, adolescents and adults as well as family therapy. As your therapist my goal is for you to have a safe space to share your thoughts and feelings and feel that someone is listening to you without judgment. I utilized EMDR and CBT therapeutic approaches to help clients heal from past trauma and manage anxiety and depressive symptoms.

My approach to therapy

I utilize EMDR as a treatment method to help clients resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain though bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which helps clients reduce the vividness and emotion associated with their trauma memories. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy treatment method to help clients identify and challenge unhealthy thoughts, feelings and behaviors and provide support to client in order to have more control of their thoughts, feelings and behaviors which can can manage day to day problems

What you can expect from me

On the first session, my goal in our first session is for the client to feel safe and comfortable in opening up about how they are feeling and to create some treatment goals that would be used as a guide throughout treatment
