Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona with a background in both counseling and education. I earned a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University and a Master of Arts in Religious Studies from Arizona State University. Before becoming a counselor, I spent nearly 20 years teaching history, philosophy, religion, and literature.

I work primarily with adults and couples, with particular experience in trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, men’s issues, and pornography or sexual addiction. I also specialize in Christian counseling for clients who want their faith meaningfully incorporated into counseling.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is practical, collaborative, and focused on understanding the deeper patterns that contribute to a person’s current struggles. I want clients not only to understand why they are struggling, but also to develop concrete ways to make meaningful changes in their lives.

I draw from EMDR and cognitive behavioral therapy in my work with individuals and Gottman Method principles in my work with couples. I tailor treatment to the needs of each client rather than using the same approach with everyone. When Christian faith is important to a client, I am also comfortable integrating Scripture, theology, and spiritual concerns into the counseling process.

What you can expect from me

I like to get started right away. In the first session, I will spend time getting to know what brought you into counseling, learning about your history and the circumstances surrounding the concerns you are facing, and beginning to identify what you would like to change.

My goal is for us to begin developing a clear plan for treatment rather than simply gathering information. I want you to leave the first session with a better sense of what we will be working on together and how counseling can help you move toward your goals.
