Great to meet you!

Hi, my name is Ben. I'm a late-diagnosed autistic and ADHD (AuDHD) man — I received my diagnosis in my 30s from a psychologist who is also self-disclosed autistic. Working with someone who shared that experience made a real difference in my own process of self-discovery and acceptance, and it's part of why I do this work now. One of my goals as a therapist is to draw on my own lived experience to offer other neurodivergent individuals genuine understanding and support as they navigate a world that can often feel overwhelming or not built with them in mind.

My approach to therapy

I'm primarily a person-centered therapist — I believe clients are the experts on their own lives, and I let them lead the direction of our work together. My focus is on showing up with non-judgmental curiosity, empathy, and authenticity, without hiding behind a clinical facade. I strongly believe the therapeutic relationship itself is the most important factor in effective therapy, so building real, trusting connection with my clients is something I invest in deliberately, not something I assume will just happen. I'm also trained and experienced in EMDR, an evidence-based approach for treating trauma and shifting unhelpful core beliefs about oneself.

What you can expect from me

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming or anxiety-inducing — and honestly, that's normal for both of us in a first session. My goals for our first meeting are to slowly get to know you, understand what's bringing you to therapy right now, get a sense of your history, and start building the trust and rapport that good therapeutic work depends on. It's also a chance for you to ask any questions about how therapy works, and for us both to get a sense of whether we're a good fit to work together.
