Dr. Benjamin Fey

I'm a Board-certified Adult Psychiatrist with 5 years of experience treating patients. I attended St. George's University for medical school, and completed adult psychiatry residency and chief residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. I have previously held the titles of Director of Inpatient Psychiatry and Director of Psychiatric Emergency Services. I also have additional training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy from the Psychoanalytic Association of New York, associated with NYU School of Medicine. I treat all adult psychiatric issues but specialize in mood disorders, LGBTQ+ issues, anxiety disorders, and anger management,

As a psychiatrist, I prioritize creating a warm, supportive, and empathetic environment for my patients. I approach each individual with curiosity and respect, taking the time to understand their unique experiences and needs. My focus is on providing affirming care, particularly for my LGBTQ+ patients, by recognizing and addressing the specific challenges they may face. I work collaboratively with each person to develop a personalized treatment plan that promotes mental well-being, encourages self-discovery, and fosters resilience.

My goal in sessions is to create a safe space where all patients feel heard, valued, and empowered in their journey toward mental health and self-acceptance. When appropriate, I offer patients peace of mind through transparent diagnosis, medication management, and talk-focused psychotherapy. When medications are indicated, I offer multiple options and education on risks/benefits of treatment, and aim to have a collaborative approach in all aspects of treatment.
