Great to meet you!

I’m Benjamin Murphy (Ben), a licensed psychotherapist and life coach who works with adults and couples navigating anxiety, depression, anger, relationship challenges, trauma, and life transitions. My path into this work is deeply personal. For many years, my identity was rooted entirely in athletic performance—until a career-ending injury led to an identity crisis and unhealthy coping through substance use. My own healing journey through therapy, recovery, and personal growth shaped my belief that change is possible when we learn how to understand ourselves with honesty and compassion.

Today, I bring both clinical training and lived experience into my work. Clients often describe me as grounded, relatable, and direct in a supportive way. I value authenticity and believe meaningful change starts with feeling understood—not judged.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, strength-based, and practical. I use evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing to help clients identify unhelpful patterns, regulate emotions, and build healthier coping strategies. I also integrate somatic approaches, breathwork, mindfulness, meditation, and movement-based practices like yoga to support mind-body connection and stress regulation.

I believe therapy should meet you where you are. Together, we focus on increasing self-awareness, emotional resilience, and personal responsibility—while honoring your experiences and values. My work is especially supportive for men navigating emotional expression, anger, identity concerns, and relationship stress.

What you can expect from me

In your first session, we’ll focus on understanding what’s bringing you to therapy and what you want to change. I create a space that feels calm, respectful, and real—where you don’t need to have everything figured out. We’ll explore your current challenges, strengths, and goals, and begin outlining a direction that feels achievable and aligned with your life.

Many clients leave the first session feeling clearer, more hopeful, and less alone—often with practical tools they can begin using right away. Therapy with me is about building skills, confidence, and self-trust so you can move forward with intention and balance.
