Great to meet you!

My practice is based in Boulder County, Colorado where I see clients in-person and virtually statewide, and also virtually in Massachusetts, Montana, Utah, Vermont, and Washington. I have more than a decade of experience as a therapist and over 20 years experience facilitating groups.

I specialize in concurrent group and individual therapy, which I have found to be the most efficient way of fostering deep and lasting change for a wide variety of the concerns that bring people to therapy.

I am deeply committed to promoting a culture within my weekly therapy groups that allows each member to benefit from one another, creating a unique therapeutic experience that many group members describe as profoundly meaningful.

I am pleased to also offer individual, couples and family sessions as my schedule permits, and I have a specialty in working with people from rural and mountain communities, those who engage in active and outdoor lifestyles, first responders and other high-stress professions.

My approach to therapy

I bring a mix of skill and wisdom along with genuine compassion and a sense of ease with clients, balancing wit and depth. My sessions are approachable and meaningful for new clients and therapy veterans alike.

My focus tends to be on the quality of relationships in the present, believing that many of the reasons people seek therapy are rooted in our capacity for experiencing rich and meaningful relationships.

While understanding past experiences can be helpful, I find that clients benefit most from our attention on how past experiences (family of origin, trauma, etc...) are affecting the present.

What you can expect from me

The first session is really about getting to know one another to determine if I'm a good fit as a therapist, and charting a way forward together that best addresses your needs. That includes suggestions about what we might focus on, frequency of sessions and format (group, individual, or couples/family).

I want to learn as much as I can about you and your situation in a first session and I'll give you an honest and candid opinion about what I think is happening and why, and what my suggestions are moving forward. If it seems to either of us that I'm not a good fit, I will do my best to help you find a therapist better suited for you based on what I've learned.
