Great to meet you!

Hello, I'm Bertha Banuelos, LCSW. I specialize in supporting individuals through complex life transitions and personal challenges. I am a bilingual clinician and provide services in both English and Spanish. I have worked in the mental health field since 2018, recently narrowing down my practice to adults. My practice centers on the mental health of women and BIPOC communities, with a deep understanding of multicultural experiences and family dynamics. I bring expertise in addressing communication challenges, body image concerns, postpartum experiences, and immigration-related stress. Drawing from evidence-based practices, I support clients navigating family of origin issues, codependency, eating-related challenges, and complex interpersonal dynamics. My goal is to empower individuals to develop healthier relationships, stronger self-understanding, and meaningful personal transformation. I am a life long learner, constantly learning different modalities, improving current practices and developing new skills to support my clients in meeting their mental health needs.

My approach to therapy

My bilingual background in English and Spanish allows me to connect authentically with diverse communities. I am committed to creating a compassionate, affirming therapeutic space where clients can explore their experiences of guilt, shame, and personal growth. My approach honors each individual's unique cultural context and lived experiences. My approach is mostly grounded in being compassionate, empathetic and supportive. My practice is client-centered, and solution focused. Walking alongside clients as they meet their personal mental health milestones and goals is my honor. I value trust and vulnerability, I know these qualities are earned. I am focused on developing a positive rapport, without judgement and meeting the client where they are.

What you can expect from me

During our first session I want to know what brings you to therapy and what you hope to gain. In our first session expect us to get to know each other and you can decide if I am a good fit. You will be greeted with compassion, empathy and understanding. You will play an active role in developing a treatment plan with tangible goals that will ensure you are working towards acknowledging your strengths, using those strengths towards working through any challenges you are currently facing.
