Bertrona Freeman

Greetings! My name's Bertrona Freeman and congratulations on embarking on this exciting journey. With 17 years of experience in the counseling field, I bring a deep understanding of both addiction and mental health treatment. My professional background includes extensive work in addictions, complemented by broad experience supporting individuals with anxiety and depression and other mental health concerns. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I became licensed in Georgia in 2022 and in Florida in 2025, but I began counseling in those struggling with substance use in 2008-2017 and I provided clinical supervision to counselors from 2017-2023.

Using a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach, I work collaboratively with you to identify unhelpful thought patterns, build practical coping skills, and support lasting, meaningful change. This journey is your own, I take joy in identifying you as the expert in your life and my role in assisting and guiding you to your desired level of mental wellness.

In the first session, you can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where they feel safe sharing their concerns at their own pace. We will focus on building a rapport and getting to know the your background, current challenges, strengths, and what led you to seek counseling. Together, we will begin identifying initial goals for therapy and discussing what progress might look like, with an emphasis on realistic and achievable outcomes. You will also gain an overview of the therapeutic process, confidentiality, and how cognitive behavioral strategies may be used to support growth and change.
