Great to meet you!

Hello, and welcome. My name is Bethaney Long, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 20 years of experience in the helping profession and over 7 years of clinical mental health experience. I work with children ages 4 and older, adolescents, adults, and families. While I primarily provide face-to-face therapy services, telehealth appointments are also available when appropriate.

I specialize in helping individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship challenges, family conflict, parenting concerns, stress management difficulties, and self-esteem issues. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families navigating life’s challenges and emotional hardships.

My approach is warm, supportive, and collaborative. I believe therapy should be a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to create meaningful change. I utilize evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), EMDR-informed interventions, and strengths-based techniques tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals.

I understand that reaching out for support can be difficult. My goal is to help clients build on their strengths, develop effective coping skills, increase resilience, and work toward lasting healing and personal growth. Whether you are seeking support for a specific concern or looking to improve your overall well-being, I am committed to meeting you where you are and helping you move toward the life you want to live.

My approach to therapy

believe therapy works best when clients feel safe, respected, and genuinely understood. My approach is person-centered, collaborative, and tailored to each individual’s unique needs and goals. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients can openly explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

My therapeutic style is open-minded, affirming, and inquisitive. I approach each client with curiosity and respect, recognizing that every person’s story is unique. I believe in asking thoughtful questions that encourage insight and self-discovery while providing support and validation throughout the therapeutic process. My goal is to help clients better understand themselves, identify their strengths, and develop practical strategies for overcoming challenges.

I utilize evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), trauma-informed interventions, and strengths-based techniques. When appropriate, I incorporate EMDR interventions to support trauma processing and healing.

I work with children ages 4 and older, adolescents, adults, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship concerns, family conflict, behavioral challenges, stress management difficulties, and self-esteem issues. Together, we will work to build resilience, improve coping skills, foster emotional well-being, and create meaningful, lasting change.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, my primary goal is to get to know you and better understand what brings you to therapy. We will discuss your current concerns, personal history, strengths, support systems, and what you hope to achieve through the counseling process. I understand that sharing personal information can feel uncomfortable at first, so I strive to create a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you can feel safe being yourself.

The first session is also an opportunity for us to determine whether we are a good fit and begin developing a plan that aligns with your needs and goals. You can expect me to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and work collaboratively with you to identify areas of focus for treatment. While every client’s journey is unique, we will begin discussing practical strategies and strengths that can support your growth and healing.

My approach is open-minded, affirming, and inquisitive. I believe therapy should be a collaborative process where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. Whether you are seeking support for anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, or other concerns, my goal is to help you feel comfortable, understood, and hopeful about the path forward.
