Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Bethany Hagy, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with about six years of experience working with children, teens, and adults. I earned my Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in May 2021.

I work with clients ages 6 through adulthood, supporting a wide range of concerns including trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger, impulse control, relationship challenges, and life or career transitions. Whether you’re navigating something specific or just feeling stuck, I aim to meet you where you are.

At the core of my work is the belief that everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported. I strive to be a voice for those who feel like they don’t have one and a steady presence for those who need someone in their corner.

I offer both in-person and telehealth sessions to make therapy as accessible and comfortable as possible.

My approach to therapy

In sessions, I’m warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental, while also being honest and direct when it’s helpful. I believe therapy should feel like a safe space where you can be yourself, but also a place where real growth happens. I often bring creativity and even humor into the process when appropriate, because healing doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time.

My approach to therapy is integrative, meaning I draw from a variety of evidence-based methods such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), EMDR, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). More importantly, I focus on what works best for you as an individual.

What you can expect from me

Starting therapy can feel a little nerve-wracking, and that’s completely normal. Your first session is really about getting to know each other and helping you feel comfortable.

We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, a bit about your background, and what you’d like to see change or improve. I may ask some questions to better understand your experiences, but there’s no pressure to share everything all at once—you can go at your own pace.

I’ll also explain how therapy works, go over confidentiality, and answer any questions you have. This first session is just as much for you to get a feel for me as it is for me to get to know you.

For children and teens, I tailor the session to fit their age and comfort level. This might include a mix of conversation, activities, or creative approaches to help them open up more naturally. I also work with parents or caregivers as needed, while still making sure the child feels safe and supported.

My goal is to create a space where you feel welcomed, heard, and not judged. I’m warm and supportive, but also honest and direct when it’s helpful. We might laugh at times, we might talk through some hard things—but you won’t have to do it alone.

By the end of the session, we’ll have a better understanding of what’s going on and what next steps could look like, and we’ll decide together how to move forward.
