Great to meet you!

There are moments in life when you don’t just need support—you need clarity, structure, and a way forward.

That might be after loss, during a major life transition, in the middle of ongoing stress that never seems to let up, or when patterns in relationships, emotions, or coping strategies keep repeating in ways that feel hard to break.

I’m Bettie, a Licensed Professional Counselor with extensive experience working with individuals, adolescents, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, addiction recovery, and complex life challenges. I also have experience supporting clients across different stages of life, including caregiving and later-life transitions.

My approach is direct, collaborative, and focused on helping you move from feeling stuck to actively building change in your life.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should be both supportive and purposeful. While it’s important to feel heard and understood, I also believe meaningful change requires direction, structure, and willingness to do things differently.

I use an integrative approach that draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and other evidence-based methods depending on what each client needs.

In our work together, we focus on identifying patterns that may be keeping you stuck—whether in your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, or relationships—and building practical strategies to shift them. I often assign reflective work or “home practice” because change happens not just in session, but in how you apply insights in daily life.

My goal is not just to help you understand your experiences, but to help you actively change the ones that are no longer serving you.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we’ll focus on what brought you to therapy and what you hope will be different moving forward. You don’t need to have everything figured out—we’ll clarify that together.

Many clients come in feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck in cycles of stress or grief, or unsure how to move forward after significant life events. Over time, clients often report improved emotional regulation, clearer decision-making, stronger coping skills, and a greater sense of direction and stability in their lives.

Therapy with me is active and collaborative. We will both reflect on what’s happening in your life and also focus on what needs to change in order for things to feel better—not just understood.
