Great to meet you!

My name is Betty G. Garrison, and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, psychodramatist, drama therapist, and play therapist in training. A practitioner of action methods. I am tri-lingual (English, Spanish, and some Italian) and hold advanced degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Theatre Education & Drama Therapy, and Film & Social Reform. My practice is rooted in the integration of expressive arts and psychology, with a strong focus on trauma-informed healing.

I have extensive experience working with women, children, families, and adults in both private practice and clinical settings. My work includes leadership and clinical roles at DreamCatchers' Theatre Psychotherapeutic Healing Institute, South Shore Counseling and Psychological Services, and as a team member and presenter with Tele’Drama International. I am actively involved in professional organizations, including the American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama (ASGPP), and regularly present at national and international conferences.

My approach to therapy

My approach is holistic, creative, and strengths based. I combine evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Positive Psychology with action methods like psychodrama, drama therapy, play therapy, sand tray, and expressive arts. I am a certified Tele’Dramatist, using Tele’Drama to facilitate healing and connection in virtual spaces. This innovative method allows for dynamic, interactive therapeutic experiences, making therapy accessible and engaging for clients everywhere.

I believe in empowering clients by focusing on their strengths and potential, drawing from positive psychology to foster resilience, hope, and personal growth. My style is collaborative and supportive, and I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore, express, and transform their experiences.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, my priority is to get to know you and understand your unique story and goals. We will discuss your background, identify the outcomes you hope to achieve, and begin to build a foundation of trust and collaboration. I aim to create a welcoming and empowering environment, where you can share openly and feel supported.

Clients can expect a personalized and integrative approach, drawing from my expertise in psychodrama, drama therapy, play therapy, positive psychology, and Tele’Drama. Whether you are seeking support for trauma, anxiety, life transitions, or personal growth, I am here to guide you with compassion, creativity, and professionalism.
