Beverly Gaines

Hello and welcome! My name is Beverly Gaines and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I have worked in the mental health field for over 10 years, with a diverse population, from children, adolescents to adults and families. Additionally, I have extensive experience with various mental health issues including, but not limited to, trauma, crisis, anger management issues, oppositional defiance, depression, anxiety, grief/loss, relationships issues and stress management problems.

My approach to therapy is comprehensive and holistic. I believe that change happens within dynamics and while healing is individual, it is not singular. I take a Reality Therapy approach which allows you to identify your needs, process and identify areas of improvement, in a safe space. I believe therapy should be client-focused, challenging but comfortable and enriching.

My goal with each session is to get clients closer to their ideal selves. In the initial session, focus is placed on building rapport, where you are welcome to share as much (or as little) of your story as you would like. Whether it is your first session or you 100th, I want you to feel welcome and comfortable, so we will take our time outlining therapeutic needs and goals, determining your pace and readiness for change as well as opening the door for you to ask questions and explore.
