Great to meet you!

Welcome! I'm Beverly Leonard, a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Indiana. I've been in the field for 25 years and love it as much today as I ever have. I especially enjoy working with adults who feel, in some way, like outsiders or divergent from the mainstream. It has been especially meaningful to support those with chronic trauma and those struggling with addiction. Anxiety and Depression are prevalent as always, and I appreciate the opportunity to help clients find relief. My focus is helping each person move toward their most authentic, highest self.

I have a BS in Psychology from Purdue University, and an MS in Counseling and Counselor Education from Indiana University- Bloomington. In addition to my graduate training, I completed post-master's coursework in Addiction and Child Development through Capella University and Advanced Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy through Johns Hopkins University.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative and supportive. A great deal of therapy work is to help a client identify and remove obstacles that get in the way of the healing process. I believe that when people feel seen and truly understood, they feel empowered to be their highest self.

What you can expect from me

I would like most of all for clients to have a sense of hope after attending sessions. Hope is what empowers us to keep going, even in our darkest moments. A key goal of counseling is for clients to understand themselves better and to feel more agency in their own lives. Clarity comes from seeing ourselves and others realistically, and clarity brings true empowerment.
