Great to meet you!

I help thoughtful, capable people who may look like they have it all together, but privately feel anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves and the people they love.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the entertainment industry, which gave me a deep appreciation for ambition, creativity, pressure, humor, rejection, reinvention, and the strange human habit of performing confidence before we actually feel it.

I later became licensed as both a Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Clinical Counselor in California and founded The Mental Gym in 2001.

I work with adults, couples, creatives, professionals, executives, LGBTQ+ clients, and people navigating anxiety, stress, relationship conflict, grief, life transitions, ADHD-related challenges, career pressure, self-doubt, and the feeling of being externally successful but internally exhausted.

Clients often tell me they appreciate that I am direct without being harsh, compassionate without being vague, and practical without reducing therapy to bumper-sticker wisdom.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, active, collaborative, and practical.

Therapy with me is not just nodding in a chair while your life remains on fire in the parking lot.

We work to understand the patterns that keep repeating, build emotional strength, and create realistic change that holds up in actual life.

I often describe my practice as The Mental Gym because emotional health, like physical health, improves through awareness, repetition, and the right kind of training.

Together, we identify the "emotional muscles" that need strengthening, including self-trust, boundaries, confidence, resilience, communication, and the ability to respond rather than react.

I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, positive psychology, EMDR, attachment work, and practical communication skills.

My goal is to help you understand yourself more clearly, treat yourself more honestly, and build a life that feels less like emotional crowd control and more like something you actually chose.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we will begin by getting a clear picture of what brings you in, what is working, what is not working, and what you would most like to change.

You do not need to arrive with a perfectly organized life story. Most people come in with a pile of thoughts, feelings, symptoms, relationship knots, and a vague sense that something needs to shift. That is more than enough.

I will ask thoughtful questions, listen closely, and help us start identifying the patterns underneath the problem. We will look at both what hurts and what helps.

My style is engaged and conversational, so you can expect me to be present, curious, honest, and collaborative.

By the end of the first session, my goal is for you to feel understood, less alone, and clearer about what we can begin working on together.

I think of therapy as teaming up inside The Mental Gym: we identify the emotional challenges you're facing, clarify the goals that matter to you, and start building the skills, strength, and self-trust needed to move toward them.

My hope is that you leave each session with real insight you can actually use, so you can keep building emotional strength in your daily life, where the real workout happens.
