I earned by doctorate in clinical psychology from The New School in New York City. I am board certified in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychology, psychoanalysis, and addiction psychology.
I use psychodynamic psychotherapies and psychoanalysis, which are an empirically-supported form of psychotherapy that can be used flexibly to help you resolve your problems. Psychodynamic therapy has been shown to be effective and efficient by primarily helping people get in touch with their feelings and the problematic ways they engage in personal and professional relationships. The initial session helps the client and I get an understanding of the problem that brought them to seek therapy and what life might be like without the problem. The best way to know if I might be a good fit for you as your therapist is to see if we work well together.
The first session is two hours. I have found that a session of this length gives me time to get a good understanding of you and your problems and whether I can help you. It also gives you a chance to see if you like the experience of working with me and find me helpful. I follow this initial session with an hour long follow up session within a week to get your feedback and to see if it makes sense to move forward with a course of psychotherapy.
