Great to meet you!

Hi! I’m Bill, and I hope you’ll allow me to walk with you on the most challenging yet rewarding journey you’ll ever begin, or continue! The “technical me” has advanced training in psychology, theology, and counseling and over thirty years of experience. The “not-so-technical-me” knows life is complicated and hard. My experiences of being with people on their inner journeys have equipped me to be present and attentive to you, offering you a safe and sacred space to be heard, valued, and accepted.

My approach to therapy

Carl Rogers coined the foundational phrase that guides who I strive to be as a person and how I practice psychotherapy: “unconditional positive regard.” This means that I care for you as a separate and unique person, with an attitude of grace that values you, despite what you see as your failings. I believe there’s profound relief and healing when we drop our pretenses, confess our worst thoughts and feelings, and discover that we are still accepted and cared for.

What you can expect from me

When we're hurting, confused, anxious, alone, or afraid; when we're doubtful of our own worth, or uncertain of who we are, we ache to be deeply understood and accepted. The unconditional companionship of another creates a space for healing awareness. I believe this is the most precious gift one person can give another.
