Great to meet you!

Hello! I am a LMFT (licensed marriage and family therapist) and I see individual adults and couples at any point in your therapy journey. It doesn't matter if you have never been to therapy or have seen multiple therapists, I believe that therapy is for everyone. If you are going through a challenging life experience, want support processing your identities or complex relationships, or are feeling "stuck", I might be a good fit to support you. I highly value "fit" meaning that the therapeutic relationship feels like a good fit for you and a place that you can be yourself and share openly. This means I will check in with you to see how therapy is feeling, and can adjust course if it no longer feels like a good fit. I identify as a cisgender, lesbian woman with a background in religious community. I have professional experience walking with clients as they process their sexuality, religious identity, challenging experiences, complex relationships, anxiety, depression and more. I am relatively new to Arizona and enjoy time in the sun, learning about the plants here, hiking and reading.

My approach to therapy

My training is in systemic therapy, meaning I have been trained to see the individual as a part of many systems even if those systems aren’t physically in the room with us. This means that I will spend time getting to know you and your history in a holistic way. I value being openly affirming and clear that therapy is intended to be a safe place for all people, embracing sexuality, gender, the whole person. I approach clients with openness, respect, curiosity and accountability to power dynamics. I also use some aspects of emotion focused therapy, internal family systems, somatic therapy and narrative therapy to help you accomplish your goals.

What you can expect from me

You can expect to fill out an intake form before our first session together, and then our first session will be spent as an assessment session, going over the intake and getting to know you more. I will ask open ended questions about what you are experiencing, some family and potentially medical history if relevant. I will also take some time to coordinate with you about some goals for therapy, that will point us in the direction you want to go. I will be in charge of our time, and will let you know when we are at time. There is never anything you have to do, it will always be an invitation to share. It can be nerve-wracking to start therapy, and might take time for you to feel comfortable and that is completely natural.
