For the last 5 years, I have practiced counseling as a Certified School Counselor in an Elementary Setting. I am currently working as a District LPC who works with all ages from PK-12th grade in the special education and general education settings. I have a masters in education in Counseling and Development from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. I currently specialize in trauma-focused CBT with children and adolescents.
"My work is based on the principles of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). This approach helps us work together to understand how a traumatic event is affecting thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. We focus on building coping skills and creating a safe space for you or your child to process the experience and move forward.
For our first session, we will work on building rapport and getting to know each other. You and I will complete an interview so I can better understand your likes, dislikes, and motivators. I believe it is essential to build a relationship and establish trust before diving into the tough stuff.
