Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Branderly Maliwa, DNP, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC, a doctoral-prepared Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, respectful, and individualized mental health care to adults.

I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice from Walden University and bring more than 30 years of nursing experience, including advanced practice experience in both medical and psychiatric care. My background allows me to consider both the emotional and physical factors that can influence mental well-being.

I specialize in the evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management of a variety of psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, panic disorder, sleep disorders, mood disorders, and other mental health concerns. I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management, with treatment plans tailored to each patient's symptoms, needs, preferences, and goals.

My goal is to provide a welcoming environment where patients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their mental health care.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative and patient-centered. I believe that effective mental health treatment begins with listening carefully, understanding each person's unique experiences, and creating a treatment plan that helps improve daily functioning and overall quality of life.

What you can expect from me

What to Expect During Your First Session

Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know you and develop a clear understanding of your mental health needs. I strive to create a welcoming, respectful, confidential, and nonjudgmental environment where you can feel comfortable discussing your concerns at your own pace.

During the initial psychiatric evaluation, we will discuss your current symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, medications, sleep, daily functioning, stressors, and any previous treatments. We will also talk about how your symptoms are affecting your relationships, work, and overall quality of life.

Together, we will identify your primary concerns and treatment goals. When appropriate, we will discuss possible diagnoses and review treatment options, including medication management and other supportive interventions. I encourage questions and shared decision-making so that you understand your treatment plan and feel actively involved in your care.

By the end of your first session, my goal is for you to leave with a better understanding of your symptoms, clear treatment goals, and a personalized plan for moving forward.
