Great to meet you!

I am an enthusiastic therapist with boundless energy to support the people who choose to work with me. It brings me immense joy and purpose to assist others in finding meaning in their experience and to develop skills to support them in getting closer to the life they want to live. I obtained my master's degree in mental health counseling at the University at Buffalo and hold my license as an LMHC in New York State. I have accumulated 10 years of experience working with individuals in the community ranging from minor mood disorders to severe and persistent mental illness, often having struggles with significant substance use. In private practice, I have moved away from severe and persistent mental illness and enjoy working most with individuals who would like to enhance their skills and abilities to move toward enhancing their inner emotional experience, as well as their connections to others.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I specialize in working with individuals who struggle with mood-based disorders (anxiety/depression), low self-worth/efficacy, struggles with interpersonal relationships, negative thinking, and maladaptive behaviors that are no longer supporting them in living the life they want to live. I thrive in my work when I can support others with honing their skills in emotional regulation and by enhancing their communication skills with others to have a deeper connection to their experience in life and with the people they love. I value the opportunity to support people in attaining a higher level of self-actualization and have clinical training in dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy, although pull strategies from multiple other therapeutic approaches to individualize an approach that works best for each person I work with based on their unique needs.

What you can expect from our first session

My goal as a therapist is to help people discover some reasoning behind their pain and suffering, and to assist them in making cognitive and behavioral choices/changes that can support in finding meaning in the struggle. Much of our suffering can come from thoughts and behaviors that we have developed naturally over time that no longer serve us the way they originally did. When we can approach these parts of ourselves with an openness and curiosity in a judgment free setting, we can begin to let go of what no longer serves us and move toward a life that has much more joy, meaning, and purpose. I would like to be your support as you look inward at your experience in a safe space that allows for growth and the development of healthy cognitive and behavioral skills. I am a strong believer that everyone is capable of living a meaningful and fulfilling existence and it is a privilege to support people in getting there.
