Great to meet you!

I have been a mental health counselor for three and a half years. I completed my internship at Halifax Hospital - Adult Psychiatric - where I gained experience in crisis stabilization. I graduated with my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Stetson University. I work with clients of all ages in individual, couples, or family counseling sessions.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is to meet the client where they are on their mental health journey. Therapy is a collaborative process - I would like for us to work together creating a safe space with no judgment, where you feel heard and accepted. I care deeply about my clients and will always treat you with respect and unconditional positive regard. I use an integrative approach, specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavior Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, with a Humanistic Approach.

What you can expect from me

Our first session would be an intake session, where I would gather details about you, and gain some insight. I would ask you if you would like to begin by telling me in your own words (Client-Centered) or if you would prefer me to ask questions for you to answer and expand upon (Structured). We may do both, depending on your comfort level. During the first session, we would discuss the present reason you are seeking therapy, look at past experiences impacting your emotional health, and build a psycho-social profile (a general outline of your family history, education, occupation, relationships, and any significant details that have helped form who you are today). We may discuss some psycho-educational information to help us increase our insight and awareness. If you are feeling emotional distress in the moment, we will learn a coping skill to practice. Hopefully, by the end of the session, you will feel much more relaxed and comfortable. Then we will schedule a follow-up session to decide what our goals, objectives, and cadence might look like moving forward.
