Beyond being a therapist, I am a husband, dog-dad and musician. As a therapist, I believe that we are shaped by the people, experiences and places in our lives. Degrees, schooling and theoretical orientation are important, but they don't replace authentic human connection. I focus my work within the LGBTQ+ community to foster connections free from judgment through a sense of belonging and shared identity.
We are the experts in our own lives - even in times of distress and confusion. Our experiences, thoughts, needs and dreams are only fully known unto ourselves. There are times, however, when any expert needs to gain outside perspectives and objective insight.
Therapy is a collaborative process that is rooted in our individual desire and hope for change. In cultivating a supportive and non-judgemental environment, I help people gain a greater sense of clarity and direction in their lives.
Whether it be a sense of relief, encouragement, hope or determination, I try to make sure every client leaves a session with the motivation or curiosity needed to move forward in their life. I often start sessions either with "Where would you like to start?" or "Where are we going today?" to remind myself and the client that therapy is process that should lead us somewhere with purpose and direction.
