Great to meet you!

Professionally, I have spent a decade in education (five years as a classroom teacher and five years as a school counselor). This is my third year as a therapist outside of the school setting.

For my masters degree, I attended Texas State University in San Marcos, TX (Eat 'em up cats!). At Texas State, I completed my MA in Professional Counseling with two focuses: school counseling and clinical mental health.

As a former educator, the populations I support include adolescents, young adults, educators, parents/guardians, and caretakers.

My approach to therapy

My work with clients focuses on their unique goals and desires for counseling. I am not a therapist who wants to "re-create" the wheel. Instead, I enjoy finding client's innate strengths, and designing counseling sessions to use those strengths in multiple aspects of their world. In my counseling practice, I use solution-focused techniques to drive sessions. Theoretically, I find solution-focused brief therapy to be beneficial to a large number of presenting issues for clients (anxiety, coping skills, adjustment strategies, transitions, etc.).

What you can expect from me

From the first session, I strive to let my client and I be our genuine selves. Clients can expect a great deal of light hearted conversation and a splash of humor from the intake session, That light heartedness and humor, then builds into rapport that allows my clients and I to decide on purposeful goals that align to their unique needs, no matter what moment of life the client is in. Rapport is what I am all about, and design my counseling sessions to meet my clients where they are comfortable, to best ensure the rapport has a chance to flourish into something empowering and nourishing.
