Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, and it's completely normal to have questions or feel a little nervous. My goal is to make your first session feel welcoming, comfortable, and focused on getting to know you—not judging you.
During our first appointment, we'll spend time discussing what brought you to therapy, the challenges you're currently facing, and what you hope to gain from counseling. I'll ask questions about your mental health history, current symptoms, relationships, medical history, and other important areas of your life so I can develop a clear understanding of your experiences.
This session is also an opportunity for you to get to know me. You're encouraged to ask questions about my approach, the therapy process, confidentiality, or anything else that's important to you. Finding the right therapist is an important part of healing, and I want you to feel comfortable deciding whether we're a good fit.
Together, we'll begin identifying your strengths, discuss your goals, and develop an initial plan for treatment that reflects your unique needs and priorities. While some clients experience relief simply from sharing their story, there is no expectation that you share everything in the first session. We will move at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.
If you're seeking treatment for trauma, anxiety, depression, life stress, or other mental health concerns, our work will always be guided by compassion, collaboration, and evidence-based practices. My role is to provide support, practical tools, and a safe space where you can explore difficult experiences while building resilience and confidence.
Above all, my hope is that you leave your first session feeling heard, understood, and hopeful about the path ahead.
