Breana’s experience comes from being an intensive in-home therapist, working directly in the homes with families, their family systems, and family dynamics. She uses a variety of therapeutic interventions and modalities including, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Solution Focused, Structural Family Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Prime for Life, grounding techniques, deep breathing, and muscle relaxation.

Areas of focus:

Individual, children, adolescent/teens, adults, and families. Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Alcohol and Drugs, Life transitions, Relationship issues, Self-esteem, Conflict, Domestic Violence, and Parenting.

My approach to therapy

Breana strives to end the stigma of mental health. She believes that in this world, we need to make mental health a priority. Be the beacon of light in someone’s darkness. Be insightful of how you impact others, be kind, and be aware that not all illnesses are visible. Stop making fun of people, because they cry, they pace, they cancel plans, they talk in circles, they fidget, they struggle, they depersonalize, or they have irrational and far-fetched thoughts.

Breana’s motto is, “Be supportive, allow people to speak, actively listen, reflect feelings, have EMPATHY, and stop the stigma. Not a single person in this world can escape the impacts of mental health. Please be aware. Please be supportive, and please know that every person's feelings are valid.”

What you can expect from me

My therapy style is direct, genuine, and collaborative. I believe in being upfront and honest while creating a space where clients feel supported, understood, and challenged to grow. At the beginning of sessions, I review any necessary consents, discuss updates, follow up on previous goals or tasks, and check in on what's happened since we last met. From there, we dive into the work that matters most.

Throughout sessions, I use a balance of curiosity, humor, and occasional sarcasm when appropriate to help clients feel comfortable, build rapport, and view challenges from a different perspective. I provide honest feedback, ask thought-provoking questions, and gently challenge unhelpful patterns while maintaining empathy and respect.

My goal is to help clients increase insight, recognize barriers that may be keeping them stuck, and develop practical strategies to move forward. Together, we work through difficult experiences while keeping sight of hope and progress, helping clients recognize that even during life's most difficult seasons, there is a path toward healing and a light at the end of the tunnel.
