Great to meet you!

I began my career as a counselor working with children, teens, and families affected by sexual abuse, and I now help both individuals and couples work through pain in their relationships as well as trauma. I know that understanding what happened isn’t always enough to change how it feels or what happens between you and someone you love. In therapy, we’ll work with those moments as they come up, so you can understand them more fully and begin to change how you relate to yourself and others. I’ll take what you tell me seriously and be honest with you throughout our work.

My approach to therapy

When you bring something painful into session, I won’t ask you to explain it perfectly. I’ll help you slow down at the part that still affects you, so we can notice what happens as you talk about it and understand what it means to you. We can also look at how it’s affecting your relationships and the life you want for yourself. That’s where I bring together emotion-focused, somatic, and existential therapy. I’ll tell you what I’m noticing, and I want you to tell me when I’ve got it wrong.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I want to understand what’s hurting and how it’s affecting your life right now. I’ll ask about your history where it helps me understand the fuller picture, and I’ll tell you what I’m hearing so you can let me know if I have it right. Before we end, I’ll share where I think our work could begin and ask what you want to be different. You’ll have a chance to see how I work and decide whether I feel like someone you can trust with this.
