Great to meet you!

Hello. My name is Bret Patterson and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of MS, and I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have over three decades of healthcare experience, including 25 years as a paramedic. I specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and family systems therapy.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy where the emphasis is on the client and their particular needs as a complex individual. I endeavor to create an environment that is free of judgement, where my client can talk about things that are difficult, shameful, or painful. My areas of interest are depression, anxiety, complicated grief, anger issues, and caregiver burnout, to name just a few.

What you can expect from our first session

I believe that building trust between the client and the therapist is at the core of effective therapy. Creating an atmosphere of comfort, safety, and acceptance is primary concern. I believe that setting simple and achievable goals help most of my clients build upon their own progress to reach their desired outcome.
