Great to meet you!

Hello. My name is Bea (she/her). I am so glad that you’re looking for a therapist right now. It takes a lot to admit when we’re struggling, and I hope that you can acknowledge the strength it takes to take that first step.

I am a licensed marriage family therapist who has been working in the mental health field since 2019. I love working with clients of all ages, particularly kids, teens, and young adults in individual and family therapy. I also love to work with members of the LGBT+ community and individuals struggling with trauma. Whatever you are going through, it is my honor to walk with you for a while on your journey and give you the tools you need to face life’s challenges.

My approach to therapy

The way that we connect with our primary caregivers in childhood is often the way that we connect with everyone else throughout our lives. For this reason, I often use modalities grounded in attachment theory. If I am working with children, I use play therapy interventions to help them develop a closer connection with their caregivers. If I am working with teens and young adults, I try to help them understand how their childhood has impacted the way they move in the world and consider how they would respond differently if they had received the love, care, and support they needed so that they can make different choices.

In addition to modalities grounded in attachment theory, I use a lot of mindfulness-based interventions to give clients the tools they need to take care of uncomfortable thoughts and feelings rather than running from them. One of the primary modalities I use is the Comprehensive Resource Model, which combines mindfulness-based interventions with attachment theory to help clients develop the tools they need to process and manage their own distress.

What you can expect from me

When we work together, you can expect someone who uses humor, movies, stories, myths, and music to convey psychological concepts. It is my view that we live life through story and I want to hear your story so that I can help you narrate your life in a way that feels satisfying and profound to you.
