Brian Pritchard

My formal education began with a BS in Psychology at Fordham University and completing MSW at Columbia University with a Clinical Practice focus. I have worked as a social worker, having extensive experience with substance use disorders and mental health disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings with clients ranging from children through adults. I have completed formal training in Thanatology, the scientific study of death and the losses brought about as it's result.

My practice focuses on working with individuals who are struggling with the suffering we experience such as death, loss of relationships, coping with a new chronic illness, occupational challenges, or feeling stuck in life. I view therapy sessions as a sacred space for expression and exploration, where life and it's infinite challenges can be looked at as meaningful and achievable in the face of challenges that can feel overwhelming. I view the therapeutic relationship as a vehicle to healing.

Clients can expect to be free to express themselves openly and honestly. We will work together to use practical and applicable tools for coping with life while also finding a wider context, using our experiences to grow and find meaning and purpose to life. I often use analogies and will provide feedback and suggestions when appropriate. I pull from various methodologies, philosophies, and life experience to work together to achieve the goals clients bring to the sessions.
