Great to meet you!

My name is Brian Walsh, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida with 8 years of professional counseling experience and 4 years as a licensed clinician. I have experience working with children, adults, and families in school, home, telehealth, and outpatient settings, with a focus on anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use disorders, personality disorders, and Bipolar Disorder. I am an approved EMDR provider and utilize evidence-based approaches to help individuals process trauma and overcome emotional barriers. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University and my Master’s degree in Counseling from Nova Southeastern University, and I welcome the opportunity to support anyone seeking help.

My approach to therapy

I am an empathetic, solution-focused counselor who works collaboratively with clients to identify triggers and recognize negative symptoms early, allowing us to address them before they become overwhelming. I utilize CBT, DBT, and mindfulness techniques while providing a friendly, open, and supportive environment. I am comfortable respectfully challenging irrational or dysfunctional thoughts and behaviors when they may be interfering with your mental health and progress. I also believe humor can help lighten difficult moments, but the ultimate goal is simple: helping you become a little better every day.

What you can expect from me

During our first sessions, the goal is to establish a healthy, comfortable working relationship while gathering assessment information to better understand your needs and develop an effective treatment approach. I strive to create a warm, open, and accepting environment where humor is welcome and individuals of all identities, backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives feel respected. Together, we will establish goals through a treatment plan, with the hope of transitioning from regular counseling after approximately 12 weeks. Ultimately, our goal is to reduce the intensity, frequency, and duration of negative symptoms so you can manage life more effectively without feeling overwhelmed.
