Great to meet you!

I consider it a privilege to help support and collaborate with my clients on achieving the goals they set for themselves in therapy. I primarily work with clients who have experienced or are experiencing trauma and PTSD, substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, self-harm, ADHD, OCD, life transitions, family conflict, and those experiencing stress or difficulties with emotion management. I earned my degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Addictions Counseling from Kent State University, and have worked in the mental health field for 10 years.

My approach to therapy

The best word I would use to describe my approach to psychotherapy is "collaborative." You as the client are the expert on your own life, so the most helpful therapeutic experiences to me are at the intersection of your insights about yourself and my knowledge of skills and strategies. Some of my primary treatment approaches include EMDR therapy, CBT, DBT, mindfulness-based approaches, motivational interviewing (MI), and solution-focused.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will mostly be focused on getting to know each other, and me gathering some more information about your history, what you are looking to get out of therapy, and how I can assist you in meeting those goals. Especially if you have not been in therapy before, know that this first session can feel a bit awkward or different. I will work all throughout to create as comfortable and open of a space as possible for you to share about yourself. Following our initial meeting, I open each session with allowing you to take the lead on what you would like to talk about or prioritize for the day. If there is a week that you are feeling stuck, or are unsure of what to work on, no worries! I always plan 1-2 activities or pathways we can go down related to your goals. So there is always a backup option.
