Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Brittany Flournoy, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-S) and certified Perinatal Mental Health specialist (PMH-C) with over 11 years of experience helping adults navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, grief, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I specialize in women's mental health, pregnancy and postpartum mental health, and supporting individuals through emotionally challenging periods of their lives.

I have extensive experience treating postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, pregnancy-related stress, infertility concerns, maternal mental health challenges, and the emotional adjustments associated with motherhood and parenting. I also work with adults experiencing mood disorders, bipolar disorder, low self-esteem, identity concerns, family conflict, relationship difficulties, chronic illness, and significant life changes.

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, culturally sensitive, and strengths-based. I use evidence-based treatment approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care. I tailor treatment to your individual needs, helping you develop healthy coping skills, manage difficult emotions, improve relationships, and build resilience.

My professional background includes working in hospital settings, maternal behavioral health programs, and private practice. I have particular expertise in supporting women and families experiencing pregnancy complications, pregnancy loss, grief, health-related anxiety, and the emotional impact of medical challenges. I am passionate about providing culturally responsive mental health care and creating a welcoming environment where individuals from diverse backgrounds feel understood and supported.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, compassionate, collaborative, and judgment-free. I believe everyone deserves a safe space to feel heard, understood, and supported. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, or pregnancy and postpartum mental health concerns, I tailor our work to your individual needs and goals. I use evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and trauma-informed care, to help you better understand your emotions, develop healthy coping strategies, and build resilience. My goal is to empower you with practical tools to navigate life's challenges and create meaningful, lasting change.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. I'll invite you to share what brings you to therapy, discuss your current concerns, and explore relevant aspects of your personal history, relationships, and emotional well-being. There's no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with. Together, we'll identify your goals and develop a personalized treatment plan. As therapy progresses, I incorporate approaches such as CBT, ACT, narrative therapy, and mindfulness to help you manage symptoms, strengthen coping skills, and work toward your goals. I regularly check in on your progress to ensure our sessions remain supportive, productive, and aligned with your needs.
