Great to meet you!

I'm Brittany, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in New York, working virtually with adolescents and adults across the state. I specialize in anxiety, trauma, LGBTQ+ identity, and the kind of stuck-ness that doesn't budge no matter how many coping strategies you've tried.

My approach is warm, creative, and genuinely curious. I'm not going to hand you a worksheet and send you on your way. I want to understand what's underneath — the parts of you that learned to protect themselves, the ones that are exhausted, and the ones that are ready to do something different. If you're queer, trans, nonbinary, or sorting out your identity in a world that hasn't always welcomed that, you don't need to translate yourself for me.

I accept Aetna, Anthem BCBS, Cigna, Carelon, and several other major insurance plans — which means quality care doesn't have to mean out-of-pocket costs.

My approach to therapy

I work from a psychodynamic foundation — which means I'm interested in more than your symptoms. I want to understand the patterns, the history, and the parts of you that developed for good reasons but may be getting in your way now.

I layer in Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help you develop a different relationship with the inner voices that criticize, protect, or shut things down. I also draw on somatic awareness — because the body holds what the mind often can't articulate, and real healing tends to involve both.

My work is relational, which means the relationship we build matters as much as any technique. I bring my full presence to sessions — not a blank screen, but a real person who is genuinely invested in your growth.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is yours to set the pace. I'll ask some questions about what brought you here and what you're hoping therapy can do for you — but this isn't an intake interview. Think of it as a conversation where we both get to figure out if working together feels right.

You don't need to have it all figured out before you show up. You don't need a neat summary of your trauma or a list of your goals. You just need to show up as you are. We'll build from there.

Before we meet, I offer a free 15-minute consultation by phone so you can ask questions and get a sense of my style. If any of this resonates with you, I'd love to hear from you.
