Great to meet you!

Welcome! I’m Brittany McKenzie, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in California. I earned my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Massachusetts in 2023 and have experience working across multiple levels of care, which has shaped a flexible and well-rounded clinical perspective.

I take a humanistic, trauma-informed, and client-centered approach to therapy, with a strong emphasis on meeting clients where they are. My style is warm, compassionate, and validating, while also being honest, straightforward, and intentionally guiding. I believe therapy should feel like a safe, supportive space where you can show up as you are, while also feeling gently challenged and encouraged toward meaningful growth.

I specialize in trauma recovery and am deeply committed to helping clients recognize their resilience, reclaim their sense of value, and heal from painful experiences. I also have extensive experience supporting LGBT+ individuals and communities. In addition, I enjoy working with individuals navigating personality disorders, sexual concerns, and other complex relational or emotional challenges.

Whether you are processing trauma, navigating identity, exploring relationships, or seeking support in building a more fulfilling life, my goal is to walk alongside you in that process. I strive to create a space where you feel understood, emotionally safe, and empowered to make meaningful change at your own pace.

Reaching out for therapy can feel like a vulnerable step, and I honor the courage it takes to begin. If you’re ready, I would be glad to support you in your healing journey.

My approach to therapy

My approach as a therapist is centered on creating a warm, grounded, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel genuinely seen and safe to explore difficult experiences. I bring a balance of compassion and directness, meeting clients with empathy while also gently guiding them toward insight and meaningful change. I am especially attuned to trauma work, with a strong focus on helping clients recognize their resilience and rebuild a sense of self-worth after painful experiences. I also value authenticity in the therapeutic relationship and strive to meet each client where they are while supporting them in moving toward their goals at a pace that feels manageable and empowering.

What you can expect from me

Your first session will be an opportunity for us to get to know one another and determine whether we are a good therapeutic fit. We will also explore what brings you to therapy, discuss your goals, and begin identifying how I can best support you in working toward them.
