Great to meet you!

Brittany Rivers is a licensed counselor in Florida, South Carolina, and Colorado. Many of Brittany’s clients seek therapy to process through trauma and difficult life experiences that have caused challenging feelings and behaviors that are getting in the way of the life they want. Brittany practices from a social justice and systems lens, exploring the impacts of navigating the various systems that we are part of and how they impact our mental health such as our family system, political and economic systems, and the environment. Brittany works to validate and contextualize client experiences and support them to challenge and release the ways these experiences may have led to negative beliefs about themselves.

Brittany’s approach to therapy draws from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure with Response Prevention Treatment (ERP), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), mindfulness-based therapies, Climate Psychology, and Decolonizing Therapy. Through the therapy process, clients learn skills to manage emotions, cultivate compassionate relationships with themselves and build a life that is based on their values. Although it can be a challenging process, clients are offered different avenues to process their traumatic experiences at their own pace and comfort.

Brittany’s therapeutic style is authentic and compassionate. They strive to offer inclusive services that are both LGBTQIA2S+ and neurodivergent affirming. Brittany welcomes clients incorporating their spirituality and relationship with nature into their treatment if that is desired.

Beyond this work, Brittany enjoys building land and lineage relationships, volunteering on archeology and community remembrance projects, and cycling.

A bit about my approach to therapy

Brittany’s approach to therapy is compassionate, affirming, and socially conscious, exploring how personal experiences are shaped by larger systems like family, politics, and the environment. Drawing from DBT, EMDR, CPT, ERP, and mindfulness-based therapies, Brittany helps clients process trauma, develop emotional regulation skills, and challenge negative self-beliefs. Their style is authentic and inclusive, creating a space that is LGBTQIA2S+ and neurodivergent affirming at each client’s pace.

What you can expect from our first session

Clients can expect to gain emotional regulation skills, self-compassion, and a deeper understanding of how societal systems impact their mental health. Brittany helps clients process trauma, challenge negative self-beliefs, and build a life aligned with their values using evidence-based approaches like DBT, EMDR, and mindfulness. Sessions offer a validating, inclusive space where clients feel empowered to heal at their own pace and cultivate meaningful, fulfilling relationships.
