Hi! I'm Brittany Shillingford, a licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York. I got my Undergraduate Degree in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College and then My Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Hoftsra University. I have worked with people who have issues related to anxiety, life transitions/situational events, depression, stress, relationship issues, ADHD, family of origin issues, and more.
I believe it is crucial to have a good rapport and strong relationship with your clients. Each client is an individual with different needs, experiences, background etc. and therefore I approach each person a bit differently. I pull from person-centered, solution focused, CBT and supportive therapies.
Therapy is collaborative and we will work together to enhance awareness, insights, and notice recurring patterns in your life. I will create a warm and safe space that is judgement free for you to work on your goals and get the outcomes that you want. My goal is for you to leave our time working together better able to gain insight into yourself, cope with your symptoms independently and to truly know that you are capable.
